The stainless qualities of this product are achieved by the creation of an invisible and adhesive Chromium rich oxide coating. A stabilising treatment at 1550°F - 1650°F, air cool, may be given to this steel to provide optimum resistance to inter-granular erosion and polyphonic acid SCC at service temperatures up to roughly 1600°F.
